In the Mid-Atlantic, winter means migratory waterfowl season, and the national wildlife refuges I regularly visit provide many opportunities to photograph a wide diversity of geese, swans, and ducks. Spending an afternoon on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, watching and listening to thousands of snow geese take flight at once when a bald eagle spooks them is something you never forget.
