One of the joys of visiting Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge in coastal North Carolina is the large native black bear population. Spending a warm Saturday evening on the Wildlife Drive looking for black bears is one of my favorite photography outings. Folks on the Drive wave to each other as they pass by because we’re all out there looking for the same thing - an opportunity to witness these amazing creatures in the wild.
